I am always told by clients and friends that they just can’t seem to get their children to eat healthy snacks! In this class, I will make my delicious vegan, sugar and nut-free cupcakes as well as a scrumptious chocolate pudding, a vegan sugar-free banana bread, and chocolate coconut macaroons! I literally have to fend my children (as well as their friends) off when I make these recipes!

I will come to your home and personally walk through your pantry and give you guidance and what to throw out and what to buy. You will also be provided with a healthy shopping list.

When it comes to sun safety, the saying “you are what you eat” could not be more true! Do you want to look like a dried-up old raisin or a luscious, juicy peach when you are older? The control is in your hands. Although applying a good sunscreen daily (and even hourly when at the beach or in the sun) is essential, what most people don’t know is that you can protect your skin through what you eat as well. A good sunscreen plus the right foods before sun exposure can mean the difference between a burn and a healthy glow and can determine how you will age.
It always amazes me that athletes will scrutinize their diets with a fine tooth comb and then use processed sports products packed with fructose and even high fructose corn syrup to boost their performance during – and replenish after – strenuous workouts! When we use sugar and other carbohydrates to temporarily boost our performance, we may see immediate effects, but in the long term this creates a roller coaster ride that is not good for our bodies. So, what do I recommend and personally use to replenish electrolytes after a tough workout? Coconut water!

This morning I took a trip to the Union Square farmer’s market to visit my favorite vendor Windfall Farms from Montgomery, NY. Windfall Farms specializes in organically grown specialty greens, micro greens and sprouts and is where many of the top chefs go to shop! My daughter and I just love going first thing on a beautiful Saturday morning and picking out gorgeous produce that is in season and supporting our local farmers! Today I was on a mission to buy sprouts! Â Before you snub your nose at sprouts, they are not just bland hippie food of years past! Sprouts have been around for thousands of years and were originally used by Ancient Chinese physicians who prescribed them to cure many disorders over 5,000 years ago. In the 1700′s, it is recorded that Captain James Cook even had his sailors eat them to prevent scurvy!Read more....
