Cherries: The New “Superfruit”When June rolls around and the grocery stores and farmers markets begin bursting with cherries, we always keep a big, fresh bowl on our kitchen counter for everyone in the family to snack on.

Not only are cherries high in iron, but they are an excellent source of beta-carotene, Vitamin C & E, potassium, magnesium, folate and fiber. They also have one of the highest levels of disease-fighting antioxidants called anthocyanins of all the fruits. Research suggests that cherries prevent anemia, reduce inflammation and the symptons of gout and arthritis, helpregulate blood sugar and reduce the risk of diabetes and insulin resistance and offer protection against certain cardiovascular diseasesand cancers.
Cherries have a short harvest season from June to August so buy them while you can and enjoy!
