Hint of the Week: Never Nuke Popcorn!

Hint of the Week: Never Nuke Popcorn! Take the extra time and pop your corn in a popcorn popper or the old-fashioned way- on the stovetop! Not only are the manufactured brands (yes, even Newman’s Own) filled with lots of additives and preservatives, but the lining of the bags also contain PFOA, which is a carcinogen found in Teflon. When we microwave the bags, the FDA found that significant amounts leached from the bags into the popcorn. While the amounts from a single serving are negligible, PFOA can remain in the body and levels build up. Do yourself and your kids a favor and stop buying the microwavable brands!
