Regular table salt is poison. Table salt has been stripped of all nutritional value much like white bread, and is devoid in nutritional value. Not only does it raise blood pressure, but it also interferes with fluid retention and creates a sodium potassium inbalance, which leads to potassium being leached from our body’s cells.
Replace salt with natural, unrefined Celtic sea salt. Sea salt tastes better, contains essential minerals, enhances organ function, and neutralizes toxins. It also contributes to the hydration of our cells and organs. Celtic sea salt can be found in most grocery stores, Whole Foods and in specialty shops such as Citarella and Dean and Deluca.

For most of you who know my writings and my work, the title of this article may come as a surprise to you. If you are training for your next marathon, or even just trying to enhance your running speed or stamina, add more dark, leafy greens to your diet!
Yes, I said “greens,” not “protein” as you might have expected! Protein is certainly an important part of a runner’s diet with respect to building, repairing and maintaining muscle. But, so often, when I look at a client’s diet log, I see that they are loading up way too much on carbohydrates and protein, but leafy green vegetables are sorely overlooked!
Need some easy ways to get more greens in your diet? How about dessert? Yep. There is nothing more powerful than adding more greens to your diet! Greens are high in calcium, iron, magnesium, potassium, phosphorous, zinc, Vitamins A, C, E and K, folic acid and chlorophyll. Greens help purify the blood, prevent cancer, improve circulation, strengthen the immune system, improve liver function, clear congestion, improve skin quality, lift spirit, eliminate depression and increase energy and vitality. They are also high in fiber and, uhm, get things moving if you know what we mean!
